Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus Endorses JOE BIDEN for President of the United States

Chair Noah Arbit hails presumptive nominee as “unrivaled friend to the Jewish community,” calls Trump re-election an “existential threat to American Jews.”

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. — The Executive Board of the Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus announced the group’s endorsement of the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee, former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, for President of the United States. “After four long years of vacant, destructive leadership at the hands of Donald Trump, whose raging deficiencies continue to endanger the nation, Americans deserve a strong, experienced, and empathetic leader to steward our country and the free world out of its darkness. That leader is Joe Biden,” said Noah Arbit, founder and chair of the Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus. MDJC’s endorsement reflects the priorities of Jewish voters across Michigan - a key battleground state - and is rooted in the Jewish values of tzedek (justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world), and g’milut chasadim (acts of lovingkindness). Joe Biden is not only an unrivaled friend to the Jewish community, but a stalwart fighter of bigotry and antisemitism, and a strong defender of Israel and the pursuit of a two-state solution. The Caucus’ first-ever presidential endorsement arrives following four years of the incumbent’s barely-concealed antisemitic dogwhistles and cynical attempts to trade gestures to Israel for domestic political support; and is grounded in a conviction that the re-election of Donald Trump poses nothing less than an existential threat to American Jews. Like other minorities targeted by the incumbent, Jewish Americans will find neither safety nor security so long as Donald Trump remains in office. Against a man who has used the presidency to amplify dangerous conspiracy theories used by violent and deranged men to attack Jews and deface synagogues across America - including right here in Michigan - Joe Biden is the only choice for Jewish Michiganders. MDJC applauds each of the 2020 candidates whose contributions strengthened the Democratic Party, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), whose campaign went further than any Jewish candidate in the history of the United States. The dedication of every candidate’s supporters will be vital to defeating Trump and electing Democrats up and down the ballot in November, and the Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus is committed to bolstering these efforts wherever possible.
